About the project

The "Tsumugu Project" is a long-term program that builds direct relationships with the local community. We emphasize the process of activities and aim to deepen relationships over Hours To that end, the philosophy, strategy, and method of "community engagement (CE)", which is indispensable for community formation and is in mind to bring common benefits to all involved, are applied. First of all, CE has the ideal of multicultural and commensalism, and the guideline is to improve and coordinate the society, local communities, and living environment across the board. By not only respecting the disagreements of individuals, but also understanding the various organizations that participate in the community and repeating the work of finding a common consciousness from them, we promote the fostering of society and local communities, which is the ultimate goal. increase. Furthermore, participants will discover roles that make the most of their specialties and areas of expertise, treat the project itself with attachment and pride, and actively engage with it with passion and pride, which will sprout ownership of the activity. .. If the old-fashioned hierarchy is a hindrance to the mutualism of the community, it also has the characteristic of promoting the fostering of the community by building and sustaining a new relationship that connects both of the hierarchical relationships. .. The etymology of engagement is close to the definition of "angageman" advocated by the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, which means "participation / involvement" and at the same time, "involves in the reality itself" of choosing and acting by oneself. It is said to include the attitude of "a way of life."

On the other hand, the origin of this project as an art project lies in the idea and art concept of "social sculpture" advocated by Joseph Beuys (1921-1986). This is the idea of creating and changing society = sculpture by preaching an artist as "a person who thinks and acts on his own" and by having everyone act with a role and will. It is possible that a better society and local community will be created by living and acting with awareness and pride in the abilities and roles that everyone has, rather than only special people touching and engaging in art. Is it not? Voice's philosophy emphasizes diversity, which is also seen in the principles and characteristics of CE, and is interpreted as a frame for developing model human resources for community formation in modern times. While applying the structure of this social sculptural concept, the Tsumugu project focuses on the individuality of each person, the inheritance of generations, and the diverse regional characteristics, and develops by gently interacting and deepening relationships through art. This leads to the practice of art projects.
